Year-Round Roadway Dining is Now Legal With a Year-Round License
New York City Council passed legislation allowing year-round roadway dining. Applications will open in early September 2026. New applicants can choose a year-round license with higher fees. Existing participants may upgrade their existing license or application by paying an additional fee. Check back soon for more information.

In addition to the food establishments approved for outdoor dining, find a list of food establishments that received:
- Conditional approval for sidewalk dining (pdf) - list updated periodically
Food establishments that submitted a sidewalk application before the August 3, 2024 deadline are allowed to operate their sidewalk cafe during the application review process. Review a list of food establishments that applied by the August 3, 2024 deadline (pdf).

Roadway Cafes
- Accessible, lighter, open-air cafes that extend the restaurant's look and feel out to the street
- Cafes will be easy to move, clean, set up, and break down
- Allowed April through November (eight-month season)
